About Sinead
I discovered yoga in 2000, around the same time as qualifying as a nurse. I had been dealing with chronic back pain from an injury I sustained during my nurse training, and I found yoga helped to relieve my pain and deal with my busy role. In 2005, I completed a course in Holistic Studies and was awarded certificates in various massage therapies, stress management and aromatherapy.
I was diagnosed with myofascial pain syndrome and secondary fibromyalgia in 2019, both of which cause widespread pain and fatigue. Temporarily unable to work, I turned to the healing power of yoga to sustain me. I decided to study yoga teacher training to deepen my existing practice and knowledge.
By taking various courses in chronic pain management with Chronic Pain Ireland, as well as adapting my yoga practice, my health continued to improve. Early in 2020 I returned to nursing and began teaching yoga later that year.
Since graduating as a yoga teacher, I have been continuing to build upon my knowledge base and expertise, incorporating all that I have learned and offering it to those I teach. This has included becoming an accessible yoga graduate and ambassador with accessibleyogaschool.com. I focus on teaching accessible yoga, providing classes to people for whom chair and adapted gentle yoga is a better fit.
For Pain Awareness Month in September 2025, I was proud to be a Pain Ambassador for Chronic Pain Ireland to help bring awareness to chronic pain and the benefits of gentle chair yoga & movement for people living with chronic pain.
I find great satisfaction in combining my yoga, holistic and nursing knowledge in ways that help people to create an overall sense of balance and calm in their lives.
